Happy New Year! Last year was tough for everyone in many different ways. This year has started out quite difficult but I am determined to make the rest of it amazing. I want to keep motivated and productive in both mummy and business life so here are a few things I am going to do:
Online
I have recently discovered TikTok – I love that I can create a video with music or a voice over demonstrating how our On The Grow Rompers work. It’s lovely that I can also create a vlog with the girls, which I can look back on in future. I look forward to when Willow and Ember become involved and create dances with their cute matching rompers and little outfits. I am also trying to build up more of an online presence because who knows when we can sell at a market again.
Walking
Since the Pandemic started in March I have barely left the house. I was 7 weeks pregnant when we had our first lockdown. It was scary and there was hardly any information on what would happen if a pregnant woman caught Covid. Whenever I went for a walk with Willow it surprised me how often people would walk up to her and have a chat. I felt overwhelmed by the constant news coverage and how everyone had different opinions. After I had Ember I have been trying to go for a daily walk. It can be difficult managing a pram, toddler and dog but I know it will get easier the more I do it.
Leopard Dress
If you have met me at an event you have probably seen me in my leopard dress. I joke that leopard print is my favourite colour! I am desperate to have a picture of myself in that dress and with Willow and Ember in their leopard print On The Grow Rompers. Unfortunately, since having two girls and barely any exercise for the last two years, the dress no longer fits. I had a c-section 10 weeks ago so I can’t do any strenuous exercises (that’s where the walking comes in).
Running
In 2010 I ran my first 10k in 1hr 10m. I was so proud and wanted to do a 10k in under an hour but I stopped running in 2012. At that point our business had started to get busy so I spent more time sewing. When I ran I was the fittest I had ever been, so I would like to start running again this year. I know it will take a bit of time to regain my stamina but I know it will be good for my mental health. It will be nice to have some me time.
Conclusion
I intend to be gentle with myself this year. My mental health isn’t the best; I miss my family and friends so much. My mum and I haven’t hugged since March. I am a hugger and I miss hugging people. Once we attend events again, beware – I might hug you! This year I think we should set ourselves manageable objectives to have something to focus on. We should also celebrate every achievement: I do a happy dance with every sale we get and I know my mum does, as well!
What goals do you have this year?
